gala
04 / 27 / 2019
For its annual gala, Theatre Under The Stars worked some social media magic in enchanting surroundings on the stage of the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.
Fashion designer David Peck, who co-chaired the gala with his wife, Michelle Phillips, and Cal and Connie Dalton, enlisted Peck’s new best friend, New York actress Ilana Levine, to host a sliver of her popular podcast, “Little Known Facts,” with Beth Malone, currently on Broadway in Angels in America, in front of the black-tie audience.

Taylor DeMartino transformed the stage into a magical setting, with giant twinkling orbs overhead and lavish floral centerpieces in shades of purple, pink, and lavender, on each table. After enjoying cocktails and entertainment by students from the TUTS Humphreys School of Musical Theatre and The River Performing and Visual Arts Center in the Hobby Center Grand Lobby, the 300 guests made their way to the stage for a sumptuous dinner of lump crabmeat tower, coffee-crusted filet mignon, and “Doll Shots” (a raspberry, basil and rose frappe) catered by Jackson and Company.
